Built from waves, fish, and a lifelong passion for the outdoors!

I was born and raised on Maui, Hawaii, where my roots were set in the ocean—surfing at first light and learning to fish the reefs and channels that shaped my childhood. Those two passions eventually carried me far from home, leading me to Indonesia and throughout Southeast Asia, where I spent the first fifteen years after college building a life centered around waves, water, and adventure.
It was in Indonesia that my love for creating real mobile base camps took hold. Alongside a great friend and mentor—known to most as Big Dog—I helped build jungle camps on the southeastern tip of Java near the legendary wave of G-Land, a break I was lucky enough to call “local” during the best years of my surfing. Our trips weren’t simple overnighters. We hiked in from Bobby’s Camp with local porters, hauling in gear for what could only be called true jungle glamping—solid shelters, real cooking setups, and enough comfort to stay out for weeks chasing fish. One of those early trips included my friend Mark White, an incredible lure maker, who joined us to hunt giant trevally from the shore. It was raw, remote, and exactly the kind of camp experience that still drives me today. Check out this old you tube of that trip with Mark.
These days my life has shifted north to the mountains near Lake Tahoe in Truckee, California. Surf trips happen when they can, but my focus has turned to fishing and upland bird hunting across the West. What hasn’t changed is my passion for building camps that feel like home in wild places. That experience now fuels my Drop Glamps—base camps designed for do-it-yourself adventurers who want comfort without losing the soul of the trip. Whether it’s a mountain fishing mission, a Pacific coast surf run, or a bird hunt deep in the basin, the goal is the same: a place you can return to each night, recharge, and not want to leave.

I also have outsourced glamps staged for trips along the Half Moon Bay to Monterey Bay coast. If
timing lines up, you might even run into me on the water—I’m always happy to have an extra set of hands on the boat. My bird dog is great company, but she’s no help with a net or a gaff. And just to be clear, any time we fish together it’s simply friends sharing the day—no guiding, no fees, no business—just the way it should be.
Wishing you tight lines and good waves ahead. Want to start talking about setting up a camp then email me at dropglamping@gmail.com
