All Kind Outdoors — Vision & Seasons
Based in Truckee, California, my seasons and experience span the full breadth of the West—from Southern California to the Pacific Northwest for ocean fishing, and from the Sierra Nevada through the Great Basin for lake and river fisheries. For wild public-land birds, I’ve chased them from the Sierra across Nevada, into Montana, and as far east as Iowa. The time and scouting behind these pursuits is deep and deliberate. In the 2025 season alone, I hunted more than 70 days, base-camped over 20 nights, shared good camps with friends, and hunted 54 different locations across California, Nevada, Montana, South Dakota, and Iowa.
Every weather system and season—when taken in moderation—opens a door to some form of adventure. Over the years I’ve learned how to build base camps that are practical, comfortable, and restorative after long days in the field—camps that don’t just support the adventure, but help you recover so you can wake up ready to do it again tomorrow. That idea sits at the heart of All Kind Outdoors, and my goal is for every camp to raise that standard.
The Premium Camp Vision
The long-term vision is a true premium two–wall-tent Drop Glamp built for four-season use—heated by wood or propane and ready for real weather.
• Tent One: a fully stocked kitchen and gear room—nothing forgotten, nothing improvised—with space for an extra rustic bed when the group needs it.
• Tent Two: the social, sleeping, and recovery hub: a leveled deck underfoot, elevated queen beds, tables for meals and stories, Starlink internet, dependable power for lights and devices, and—when conditions allow—a wood-fired hot tub and cold tub to bring the body back after long days in the field.
Most of that vision is already in motion. I can currently provide elevated beds, a fully sourced kitchen setup, a smaller gear tent, social tables, and camp lighting. The 2026 season will be my startup year, and as the service grows, I’ll continue adding to the camps to reach the full premium package as quickly and thoughtfully as possible.
My Seasonal Pursuits
Fishing — Year Round
There is always a fishery in season if conditions line up. Highlight Months: April • June • October • November
April: Possible ocean salmon opener, California halibut, deep-drop bottom fishing
June & October: Prime time for large cutthroat trout on jigs and deep fly patterns
August: Buoy 10 opener—Oregon ocean and river salmon wide open
November: Dungeness crab season, a West Coast tradition
Other opportunities include:
Ice fishing from late December through February
Cold-water spearfishing in Monterey Bay’s kelp forests
Winter trolling and jigging on large lakes like Tahoe with low crowds
Key Note: The weather must align with you, your vessel, and the body of water. When it does, the results are unforgettable. I’ll help you read those windows and plan around them.
Surfing — Year Round
Waves are always somewhere. Swell direction, wind, and tide are everything. I offer surf-focused Drop Glamp setups along the Santa Cruz coast—built for dawn patrol sessions and warm, dry recovery afterward.
Hunting — Fall Through Winter
Upland Birds (Sept–end January) Chukar, Quail, Mountain Grouse, Pheasant, Hungarian partridge, and more for those willing to travel.
Waterfowl (Late Fall–Jan) Ducks and geese, including special early and late goose opportunities.
Weather Notes
Light winds and moderate storms often create ideal hunting
Dead-calm days are tougher—those are fishing days
Backcountry Snow — Late Fall Through Spring
From first snowfall to spring melt:
Best days are calm, cold, and 3–7 days after a storm
Focus on seasonal trends, snowpack stability, and avalanche safety
The goal is quality travel without compromising safety
