Maui Boys Reunion at Pyramid Lake, Nevada - Chasing Giants, Sharing Stories, and Remembering Where We Came From

There are fishing trips, and then there are the trips that remind you who you are.
This summer, a group of Maui boys reunited on the shores of Nevada's legendary Pyramid Lake. Some of us hadn't shared a camp in years. Life has a way of scattering people across states, careers, families, and responsibilities. But for a few days, all of that faded into the background as we gathered beside one of the most unique fisheries in North America.

Pyramid Lake is a place that feels almost otherworldly. Ancient desert mountains rise directly from turquoise water. The sunsets stretch endlessly across the horizon. At special points in the day and evenings, the lake becomes glass, reflecting colors that seem impossible to capture in a photograph. The lake is home to the legendary Lahontan Cutthroat Trout, one of the largest inland trout species on earth, with fish regularly exceeding 10 pounds and occasional giants pushing beyond

30 pounds!
But this trip wasn't really about the fish.
The fish were simply the excuse.
It was about sitting around camp after dark, watching the last light disappear behind the mountains. It was about laughing at the same stories we've been telling for years from since childhood on Maui. It was about sharing meals, watching the ever changing dessert scenery, and remembering the Hawaiian island roots that still connect us no matter where life takes us.
Every morning started with anticipation. Coffee in hand. Boat loaded. The lake stretching out before us. Then came the moments every angler dreams about.
A rod loads up. The drag starts singing.
And suddenly everyone on the boat is invested. The giant silver flashes beneath the surface. Shouts erupt. Cameras come out. Friends cheer each other on as another Pyramid Lake cutthroat slides into the net.

The smiles in the photos tell the story better than words ever could.
Big fish were landed. First Pyramid Lake trout were caught. Memories were made. And back at camp, the conversations continued long after the sun disappeared.

Our base camp embodied exactly what All Kind Outdoors is all about. Comfortable lodging in a wild place. No rush. No crowded hotel parking lots. No distractions. Just good friends, great fishing, and a front-row seat to one of the West's most remarkable landscapes.
The beauty of a trip like this is that it reminds us outdoor adventures aren't measured by inches, pounds, or limits. They're measured by the people who share them with us.
Years from now, we'll probably forget the exact weight of every fish.
We'll remember the laughter.
We'll remember the sunsets.
We'll remember the moon hanging above the desert.
We'll remember the feeling of being together again. For a few days, the Maui boys were exactly where they were supposed to be. We found ways to thank the lake and the Mana that comes from a place like this, and like many trips before, Pyramid Lake responded with a breathtaking show of just how special of a place it is!
The All Kind Outdoors Way
At All Kind Outdoors, our goal isn't simply to help people catch fish, shoot birds, or find a place to sleep. It's to create opportunities for experiences like this—where incredible places, comfortable camps, and good company come together to produce memories that last a lifetime.
Whether it's Pyramid Lake, the Columbia River, Monterey Bay, the Sierra Nevada, or somewhere entirely new, the adventure is always bigger than the destination.
It's about the people and the place. Show them respect and recieve positive memories that will last a lifetime!
And that's what keeps us coming back.
To Braddah Sean and Nat, big Mahalo for coming, until the next reunion!
